By now, most penny auction users have heard of the new penny auction site, Zoogboo.com. They have a totally different concept from most penny auctions in that they have "reverse auctions," where the auction starts with a Paused Clock. Bidders place their bids and whoever has the most recent bid when the clock starts counting down is the winner. There's no telling when the clock will start counting down, so it is definitely more of a gamble than standard-style penny auctions with Running Clocks.

This could be a new trend in penny auctions, however, with this particular site, there's a lot of "hokey" things going on.

For example, on April 28th, one of the Administrators from Zoogboo posted on another penny auction forum a "hint" that the "countdown" on a particular auction (a MacBook) was close and would definitely begin by the end of the day. However, during the auction, the Administrator admitted that his programmer was modifying the auction while it was active (and why would he need to do this?) which caused the auction to end in a glitch, with not one, but two winners. The fact that the Zoogboo programmer was modifying a live auction was reason enough to void the auction and refund all bids back to their users, but it took a lot of arm-twisting for any response to come from the site Administrator.

Zoogboo has misrepresented their auctions, given many bidders the run-around, and they talk circles around themselves.

We cannot recommend this site to our users in good faith. It is currently earmarked as "Buyer Beware." We recommend that our users spend their money at other well-known, verified penny auction sites.

If anything changes, and we can feel comfortable promoting Zoogboo as a site where you can feel safe playing with your money, then we will change their PennyBurners status. 'Til then, they have a learning curve to get through, and hopefully come out better on the other side.
