Earlier today, we discovered that the domain name for Swoopo.com now forwards into DealDash.com.
According to TheDomains.com, Sedo.com just released their weekly sales report, which cites that Swoopo.com was sold for $10,000 EUR, which equates to about $13,000 USD.
It was just under a year ago that Swoopo.com filed for insolvency in Munich, Germany. Just a few days before, there was a message posted on the site, citing "technical issues" and stating that they were "working as hard as possible to restore the service". Unfortunately, they never came back up and left many, many customers in the lurch.
PennyBurners sent an email to Dave and the DealDash Team for further information and received a statement from William Wolfram, CEO of DealDash:
"We're the longest running penny auction site in America. We are known as a fair & honest team and we believe we have fixed Swoopo's flawed model. Many bidders feel that winning auctions on Swoopo was quite hard compared to how easy it is on DealDash. 8/10 bidders win auctions here and we offer 100% Buy it Now for everyone else. Of course shipping is always free on DealDash. We are looking forward to serving Swoopo's former customers with the best penny auction experience possible."
It can be said that purchasing the domain name for Swoopo was a smart move. Swoopo was a massively popular site in its heydey, and there are still hundreds of references and inbound links to Swoopo.com in cyberspace.
Currently, if you go to Swoopo.com, it takes you to the homepage of DealDash.com, and the following message appears at the top of the screen:
"Swoopo is no longer in service. DealDash, the longest running fair & honest auction site provides a similar service."
DealDash has earned good reviews by members of PennyBurners, but of course, "the mileage may vary" for each customer. Do you have experience with Swoopo and/or DealDash?
