Penny Auctions BidTwister

BidTwister

Just a couple months ago, we wrote about the numerous complaints we've received from consumers who have played at penny auction site, BidTwister.com. [Please see Penny Auction, BidTwister.com, Not Shipping Items For 5+ Months] Following that article, and addressing the numerous complaints given here and elsewhere about BidTwister's severe lack of shipping and customer service, it has just been announced that the Florida Attorney General has launched an investigation into BidTwister.com.

If you are one of the many consumers who have been waiting weeks and months for your items, you may want to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office. To do so, please go to MyFloridaLegal.com to submit a complaint via their Online Complaint Form.

For those who still like to use snail mail, you may also mail a complaint. Complete the Complaint Form, attach copies of any paperwork you have that documents your case (do not send originals), and mail to:

Office of the Attorney General
PL-01 The Capitol
Tallahassee, Florida 32399-1050

You can also call the Florida AG at: (850) 414-3990, or toll-free within Florida: 1-866-966-7226

While we do not necessarily like bringing light to the negative side of penny auctions, in circumstances like these, the penny auction site owners need to be held accountable and the consumers need to be protected.

The PennyBurners Team are advocates for the penny auction community. If you are experiencing these issues with another site, we may be able to help get you answers. Please share your feedback and experiences in the PennyBurners Penny Auction Forum.

Penny Auctions - BidTwister

For many of those who have dealt with penny auction site, BidTwister.com, over the last six months, it has been a whirlwind of a ride.

PennyBurners has been receiving and reading reports from bidders who have been owed refunds or won items for over six months. One bidder states that his oldest owed items are five months old and that he is owed about $20,000 in won items. Another bidder is owed 59 items, dating back to April. Still another bidder has received one item since the middle of March, despite being owed approximately 50 other items.

This is an unfortunate turn of events for a site who allegedly received over $500,000 in financial backing, and who, before shipping slowed to a crawl, received high marks for stellar customer service, a wide variety of auction items, a smoothly-running script, and verifiable advertising.

The CEO of BidTwister, Jim Ballas, has sent numerous emails to his customer base since April, asking bidders to "be patient", promising forth-coming shipment, and even hinting at an immediate-ship system. One bidder had his account closed and suspended when he told BidTwister that waiting another 60-90 days for shipment of his won and owed items was unacceptable, when he had already waited 6 weeks.
