I'm curious. You said they indefinitely banned you. Everyone who has been banned before you said permanently banned. Did they use the term indefinitely?

Well Nick, you can add me to the suspended list as of last night. Considering the fate of the other BC's in this forum I'm not optimistic. I've never been asked to leave a casino because my game was a little too strong for the house; so if I do get banned I guess I should feel accomplished.

That one would be a doozy. I can only imagine what NGS's posts would be. The thread could be titled "Quibids, I remember that one time that I didn't have to BIN".

This would be really fun with the great minds we have on this forum. There are a bunch of different strategies for this site and it would be interesting to hear everyones viewpoints.

Well they have banned me. I wrote them back for clarity or prove that I was a reseller. That is ther reason for banning me. Which I am not. |

SBINS.......they will probably reply back to you on the 7th day like they did me......I have to check the customer service site to get my response and it was late on the 7th day when I did in fact get a response.

I have heard back from customer service.
They have reviewed my account and plan no action at this time. They did, however, say that my account could be reviewed again in the future, as they routinely conduct investigations. |

It must be something where they are currently targeting people that have won two of the same item/model besides gift cards in the last month or something. Also if you are a long time bid collector that has not purchased a bid pack in a while.

TOA: TryOtherAuction banned 5/1
Same reason: TOA conflicts with our philosophy of maintaining a fair bidding field. Yadda yaddayadda All I can say is THANK GOD! Guess they didn’t like the “Peggy” comment LOL! This will be a little long, for that I apologize. But, I have a good story to tell that may interest you all. Probably piss them off. I don’t care. I did care. I was their biggest fan. Would I have liked to have used up my remaining bids? Absolutely…oh well. We have always had an adversarial relationship with Skoreit. We may not have wanted to see it that way because we were winning things at great deals. Our goal, and I’ll speak for the members of this forum since I don’t know what the hell the goals of some were, was to win things as cheaply as possible, and thus minimizing the money that Skoreit made. Skoreit’s goal was for bidders to spend as much as possible to maximize their own profits. While it is an adversarial relationship, they are a business and we are their customers. I think they need to reevaluate how they treat their customers. We were successful. Kudos to all who were banned. The way they have gone about this is just leaving a very bitter taste in my mouth. Anyway, the story: Remember the “I have a friend in the FBI guy”? (For those who never read the exchange on the Skoreit Thread, do yourself a favor and go back and read it….good entertainment.) The consensus at the time was, he was off his rocker. Guess what,… he was on to something. If you recall he suggested placing a few bid agent bids on some untagged (no agent set yet) auctions and see what happened. People dissed him because they felt it would hurt their rep if they did this, especially since untagged auctions were mostly not high-end. I did it. The first time was by accident, if you will. Before OT auctions. There was a camera (nice one, Canon or Nikon $700?) that had like 14 hours left and there were I believe 3 single bids placed. (shows you how long ago). I guess the big dogs were locked out or already tagged to the max. This was the item that I had initially joined Skoreit for, and I had finally accrued enough bids to give it a good shot. The instant I placed my agent, I mean THE INSTANT I placed my agent another bidder’s agent went off. Not a name I had seen before, checked their profile, history hidden, been on the site a little while. Can you picture this? One of the prime auctions on the site, sitting idle for 2 hours and as soon as I place my agent, another person’s agent goes off. What are the odds? I learned long ago, “if it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck….it’s a duck”. Something smelled foul (fowl…get it…duck…nevermind), and I cut my agent. A little while later BidPack AgentMan set his agent and the “duck” only went about another 40 bids, and then last second bid when it went below the maximum auction timer reset. I kick myself to this day as I never did win one of the nice cameras. It would have been interesting to have seen how deep they would have gone had I stayed in. So I started seeking out “untagged” auctions, all $100 or more. Some were 15 hours to go, some were 3 hours to go. 4 or 5 times over a three week period the exact same thing happened! Each time it was a different bidder (who I hadn’t seen before) and each time as soon as I set my agent …their agent went off. Now tell me folks, what kind of strategy is that. You would have to be watching the auction the whole time in case another agent ran you up. And why not just set your agent right away? In most cases the ”duck” would come back in and last-second bid for a while. What say ye people? I say “DUCK”. So here I am, having got a taste of being free of this second job, and it does taste good. And for me, it was a second “job” in that I felt if I wanted to be as successful as I could, (and that’s how I approach things) that I needed to monitor what was happening on the site …..a lot. I wanted to know who was bidding and how they were bidding ( AND win histories don’t show the auctions that they lost and used up bids on), because knowing your competition, I think, is rule # 1 to win. It is an investment of time, and while I can now stream-line the amount of time needed, it’s still time. And yes ladies, I may be male, but I can multitask. The rewards are nice, but are they nice enough? Maybe. Would I try another PA site? Probably not right away. I just have this feeling if I had come back, I would have run into Try2Getit, WildHog, plums, OhNoRomo or the next version. You guys know what I mean. What a coincidence that would have been. Speaking of coincidences…did anybody else notice that as soon as Nick unbanned a certain somebody that Looth disappeared from the active members viewing at the bottom. I mean as soon as. Boy those coincidences just keep piling up. ….and the Oscar goes to….. Last edited by TOA; 05-01-2012 at 03:30 PM. Reason: Insert spaces |
