A PennyAuctionWatch.com (PAW) forum member, SouthernGal1, who broke up a collusion ring at BidCentsible.com, is now being falsely accused of collaborating in those efforts.
PennyBurners understands that someone did an "investigation" and spoke with Bob G. (the one who sent all BidCentsible users an email showing his frustration with BidCentsible after the bannings) and BidCentsible. The only person this "investigator" (RacingBroker) left out was the whistle blower, SouthernGal1. PennyBurners did not have this over-sight. PennyBurners spoke with Bob G. the day after the email was sent, and got his full side of the story. We also called BidCentsible and got their side, albeit, they were not happy with PennyBurners, due to our previous article about them and the email we posted. (It is our policy to NEVER remove an article we have posted). We had no way to contact SouthernGal1 until her email address was exposed on PAW. Once we established email contact, we were able to conduct a proper phone interview, and with her permission, obtained the emails sent to and from BidCentsible, corroborating her story.
When SouthernGal1 was emailed an invitation to join a group, which claimed to provide a truce agreement among those participating, she immediately forwarded this information to BidCentsible knowing such a group would wrong them, as well as the members of the site. She followed with a call to the staff at BidCentsible, who asked her to become part of the group long enough so they could determine all of those participating. Although hesitant, for fear of getting in trouble, BidCentsible reassured her that, "We are the only ones you could get in trouble with, and you are helping us out. So you don't have anything to worry about."
PennyBurners believes that was true when they said it. They had no idea the list of people in the "Truce of 9" would be leaked, nor would SouthernGal1 would be falsely accused of joining the group with the full intention of colluding, or accused of having seconds thoughts later and turning them in because of that.
Under their authority, she accepted the invitation, so that when the colluders would reveal their names, she could inform BidCentsible. That is what she did. Fearing detection and retribution from users in the "truce" on other penny auction sites, BidCentsible changed her user name and instructed her to go to the police at the first sign of any wrong doing.
SouthernGal1 did the right thing here, and she was never asked by anyone at PAW during their "investigation" for the series of events that led up to the collusion ring being shut down. Had she not reported the invitation, this collusion ring would be manipulating the auctions at BidCentsible today.
PennyBurners feels outraged at the way this good woman was treated inside the PAW Community for doing the right thing. We are outraged that this "investigator" did not even attempt to talk to the woman who blew the whistle on this collusion ring, and instead chose to make outrageous accusations including attacking her faith. BidCentsible may not have been pleased with our previous article, nor were they inclined to be friendly because of that fact, but they did answer our direct questions without issue (This call had all 4 principals of BidCentsible on conference call):
PennyBurners: "Who was the first to notify you of this collusion ring?"
BidCentsible: "SouthernGal."
PennyBurners: "Who was the first to give you the necessary information to ban the offending users?"
BidCentsible: "SouthernGal. She was the only one who immediately called when she received the invitation"
PennyBurners: "Why was SouthernGal1's user name changed?"
BidCentsible: "She felt that being the only one who accepted the invitation, and wasn't subsequently banned would make her a target on other sites [where she uses the same name]."
PennyBurners: "Why did you publicize the identities of the 'Truce of 9?'"
BidCentsible: "We didn't. The information was only available between those 9 participants, and Amanda from PAW."
PennyBurners: "Why was it made available to Amanda/PennyAuctionWatch?"
BidCentsible: "It was given in strict confidence. After our users were spammed, Amanda called from a blocked number and lead us to believe that giving her the information would somehow help the community and our customers."
This story was also corroborated with Dirtyjerz, who was the orchestrator of the "Truce" and Bob.
