Nicholas "Nick" Boccio first became involved in penny auctions in October of 2009, when an old business associate stumbled on to BidCactus.com, and told Nick what a "great idea" it was. Nick spent time researching the industry, eventually deciding to start a penny auction of his own. He developed a unique design and concept, and a catchy name: CoutureCents.com. There were two designs - one for the women's side, and one for the men's side, with Audrey Hepburn and Frank Sinatra, respectively, as "mascots". The concept was to provide designer accessories for both women and men, along with outstanding customer service, fast shipping, and a fair playing field.
Everyone was excited about CoutureCents, but as development went forward, Nick he realized that he did not have the time or capital to fund a long-term, successful penny auction site. However, through his research of the industry and by talking with numerous site owners and bidders, he came to realize that the industry needed something more than just "another" penny auction site. Biased and unfair negativity shrouded the industry and was perpetuated by the media and by pseudo-watchdog sites. Thus, PennyBurners was born!
In his downtime, Nick is an avid car enthusiast and salt water aquarist. He is a self-described "geek" and spends much of his time researching subjects of interest on the computer. His favorite food is macaroni-and-cheese and he drinks one cup of coffee per day.
